Technical Asset Management Engineer
Role Overview
This is an owner-side technical asset management role supporting the safe, reliable and commercially effective operation of the Lynn & Inner Dowsing Offshore Wind Farm. The successful candidate will act as the technical focal point between asset owners, contractors and service providers, combining practical offshore wind judgement with commercial awareness and governance discipline.
This position is ideally suited to an experienced offshore wind professional seeking to transition from operational delivery into owner-side asset management.
The role is not responsible for performing maintenance activities. Instead, the successful candidate will oversee, challenge and support the organisations that do, using technical evidence to protect asset value and improve operational outcomes.
The successful candidate will develop a detailed understanding of the technical condition, operational performance and risk profile of the asset and will play a key role in supporting owner decisions regarding performance, risk, expenditure and long-term value creation.
Role and Responsibilities
Asset Performance
- Act as the owner-side technical lead for Lynn & Inner Dowsing Offshore Wind Farm.
- Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the technical and operational condition of the wind farm, including wind turbines, electrical infrastructure, marine operations and supporting systems.
- Monitor production, availability, losses, technical performance and operational risk across the asset.
- Analyse SCADA data, operational reports, work orders and technical information to identify trends, recurring issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Support the identification and implementation of operational improvement initiatives that enhance safety, reliability and asset value.
O&M Oversight
- Work closely with the O&M Contractor to ensure maintenance activities are delivered safely, effectively and in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Challenge contractor performance where appropriate using objective operational and technical evidence.
- Review maintenance plans, campaign strategies, outage planning and major interventions.
- Monitor contractor KPIs, performance guarantees, service quality and response times.
- Support contractor audits and performance reviews where required.
Technical Risk & Reliability
- Maintain awareness of emerging technical risks, reliability concerns and fleet-wide issues that could affect asset performance.
- Support root cause investigations relating to operational incidents, major defects and equipment failures.
- Review engineering modifications, technical recommendations and reliability improvement proposals.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of technical risk registers and mitigation plans.
Stakeholder Management
- Build strong working relationships with asset owners, contractors, consultants and key industry stakeholders.
- Lead or support technical review meetings with contractors and specialist suppliers.
- Coordinate with commercial asset managers, HSE specialists, regulatory advisers and grid stakeholders where required.
- Support shareholder, board and client reporting through the provision of clear technical insight and recommendations.
Reporting & Governance
- Prepare and deliver monthly technical performance updates for asset owners.
- Present complex technical issues in a concise and commercially relevant manner.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and operational expenditure reviews relating to asset performance activities.
- Contribute to continual improvement of XceCo reporting products, asset management systems and technical processes.
Site Engagement
- Undertake periodic site visits, vessel visits and contractor engagement activities to maintain a practical understanding of asset condition and operational performance.
- Maintain visibility of offshore operational challenges and developing industry best practice.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Significant experience within the offshore wind industry.
- Experience as an Authorised Technician, Senior Technician, Production Engineer, Production Manager, Service Engineer, Operations Engineer or similar role on operational offshore wind farms.
- Strong understanding of offshore wind operational performance, maintenance activities and technical risk management.
- Experience interpreting operational reports, SCADA trends, technical data and maintenance records.
- Ability to engage confidently with technicians, engineers, contractors and senior stakeholders.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Siemens SWT-3.6 experience.
- Experience working in owner-side asset management.
- Experience reviewing O&M agreements and performance obligations.
- Knowledge of balance of plant systems, substations, foundations, subsea assets, export systems or marine operations.
- Engineering degree, HNC, apprenticeship or equivalent technical qualification.

This role is based in Grimsby with periodic travel to offshore wind farm sites, contractor facilities and stakeholder meetings.
